Dr. Anita Brown-Dean

Dr. Anita L.P. Brown Dean was born in Nassau, Bahamas. Her early education was completed in the Bahamas at St. Andrew’s High School and College of the Bahamas now University of the Bahamas where an Associate’s degree was obtained. She then went on to receive a bachelor degree from George Washington University, in Washington DC, with a major in biology and a minor in psychology. In 1992 Dr. Dean graduated from The New England Collage of Optometry in Boston Massachusetts. She has over 20 years of work experience in the field of Optometry and has had exposure to almost every type of eye care service available at almost every level.

Dr. Dean is an American Board Certified Optometrist with active licenses to practice both in the State of Florida U.S. and The Commonwealth of the Bahamas and has worked in such institution as Bascom Palmer Eye Institution, Miami Florida. Fulfilling her long term passion to provide ocular service with excellence in her own practice, Dr. Dean, established MJB Optical (named after her father; McKinley James Brown) in Nassau, Bahamas in spring of 2004. Dr. Dean has also provided eye care service to Eleuthera, Spanish Wells and Harbour Islands for over fifteen years. She enjoying giving back to the communities of the Bahamas and has participated in
numerous community awareness on the importance of eye health initiatives such as free vision screenings and talks.

Dr. Dean is a wife to husband Kevan Dean and a mother to daughter Kianna Nelson, son Koen, son-in-law Dwayne and grandmother to grandson Safari. She enjoys spending time with family and travelling.
